About JamboJet

JamboJet is Kenya's leading low-cost carrier and a subsidiary of Kenya Airways, launched in 2014 to make air travel accessible to more Africans. Based at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, JamboJet operates a modern fleet of Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft, serving domestic destinations across Kenya and select regional routes in East Africa.

As part of the Kenya Airways Group, JamboJet combines operational excellence with cost-effective travel solutions, offering passengers reliable service at competitive prices. The airline focuses on short to medium-haul routes, connecting major Kenyan cities including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, and Malindi, while also serving regional destinations like Entebbe, Uganda.

JamboJet's business model emphasizes efficiency and affordability without compromising safety standards. The airline operates with a simplified service structure, allowing passengers to customize their travel experience through optional add-ons for baggage, meals, and seat selection. This approach has made air travel more accessible to Kenya's growing middle class and business travelers seeking value-conscious options.

Committed to supporting Kenya's tourism and economic growth, JamboJet plays a crucial role in improving domestic connectivity and regional integration within East Africa.

Service essentials

Baggage allowance

Excess fees β€” Jambojet allows passengers to purchase checked baggage separately depending on their fare type, with excess baggage charges applying when luggage exceeds the purchased allowance or weight limits. Passengers can usually prepay for baggage online at lower rates before travel, while airport excess baggage fees are higher. Cabin baggage is limited to one small carry-on item, and checked baggage allowances commonly range up to 23kg depending on the selected fare package. Jambojet advises travelers to weigh and pre-book extra luggage in advance to avoid delays and higher airport charges.

Prohibited items β€” Jambojet prohibits passengers from carrying dangerous or restricted items in either cabin or checked baggage for safety and security reasons. These include explosives, fireworks, flammable liquids, compressed gases, corrosive chemicals, radioactive materials, poisons, and sharp weapons. Items such as knives, scissors, tools, sporting bats, toy guns, stun devices, and pepper sprays are not allowed in hand luggage and may be restricted entirely depending on airport security regulations. Lithium batteries and power banks must also follow aviation safety guidelines, while liquids carried in cabin baggage must generally be in containers of 100ml or less.
