About Air China

Air China is the flag carrier of the People's Republic of China and one of the country's three major state-owned airlines. Headquartered at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), the airline was established in 1988 following the reorganisation of the former Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). It is the only Chinese airline authorised to fly the national flag on its aircraft β€” a distinction that underlines its status as the country's premier international carrier.

Air China joined Star Alliance in 2007, becoming the first Chinese carrier to join a global airline alliance. Today it operates an extensive network spanning more than 100 international and regional destinations across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Oceania, alongside a dense domestic network connecting every major Chinese city.

The airline is publicly listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and is majority-owned by China National Aviation Holding Group (CNAH). Its sister carriers include Shenzhen Airlines and Air Macau, and it holds a significant stake in Cathay Pacific.

Air China's premium cabin product, the Phoenix Suite, is available on widebody intercontinental routes and features fully flat beds with direct aisle access. The airline's loyalty programme, PhoenixMiles, allows members to earn and redeem miles across the entire Star Alliance network.

Committed to modernising its fleet, Air China has invested in next-generation aircraft including the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, as well as introducing China's domestically produced COMAC C919 narrowbody. With safety, connectivity, and service at its core, Air China continues to position itself as a world-class carrier bridging China and the globe.
